Description

The name Volcán De Mi Tierra comes from El Volcán de Tequila, an actual volcano in the lowlands of Jalisco, Mexico. When it erupted some 200,000 years ago, it reshaped the surrounding landscape and blanketed it in mineral-rich volcanic soil — ground that turned out to be well suited to blue agave. Agave from the lowlands is baked in brick stone ovens, milled under a stone wheel known as a tahona, fermented in open wooden tanks with champagne and natural yeasts, then double distilled in pot stills. Highlands agave takes a different route: an autoclave pressure oven, a multi-stage milling machine, stainless steel fermentation with rum yeasts, and double distillation in pot stills.

Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750 ml format, this reposado brings together the herbal, citrus and spicy character of lowlands agave with the cherry and pear fruit of the highlands. Sweet agave leads, with delicate grapefruit and a touch of black pepper spice, and the texture stays smooth through a balanced, well-finished close.
