Description

Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut 2008 comes from a single harvest, picked between mid-September and early October in ideal conditions. It is the first vintage made entirely by Cellar Master Dominique Demarville.

Pinot Noir leads the blend at 61%, drawn only from Grands and Premiers Crus: Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tauxières, Avenay and Aÿ, along with Verzy, Verzenay and Ludes. Chardonnay accounts for 34% and comes entirely from the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus), while Meunier from the Montagne de Reims (Ludes) and the Marne Valley (Dizy) completes the blend at 5%. New for 2008, 5% of the wines were produced and aged in wooden casks to build strength and aromatic intensity, adding light woody, vanilla and toasted aromas to the blend.

Tasting notes:

  • Nose: citrus and ripe stone fruits of peach and apricot, with warm notes of sweet pastries
  • Palate: candied citrus fruit with hints of toasted almonds
