This Army SOF Edition is a tribute to the men and women serving in US Special Operations Forces, built start to finish in-house by Heritage Distilling Company. Three separate straight whiskeys, each 6 to 7 years old, are married together after maturing in heavily charred American and Spanish oak. A bourbon made with corn, rye and barley forms the foundation, while two straight rye whiskeys layer in spice and added complexity.
Bottled at 52.5% ABV as a "Howitzer Strength" release, it pours a deep amber. The nose carries tobacco and smoke alongside caramel, honey and pear. On the palate, look for vanilla and chocolate, floral bee pollen, clove and sweet malt. 750 ml.
