Marking 135 years of tequila making, Casa San Matías released its first blended Añejo, combining añejo and extra añejo tequilas into a single expression. The presentation matches the liquid: 135 European crystals from Preciosa are set by hand onto every bottle in Los Altos de Jalisco. In the glass, the tequila shows deep amber color with coppery reflections and a golden shine.
Aromatically, it opens on caramel and chocolate before moving through maple and vanilla, then settling into roasted almonds, walnuts and dried fruit, with retro-olfactory hints of coffee, dried plums and soft floral notes. The palate is slightly sweet with a low alcoholic impact, flavorful and faintly oily in texture, closing smooth and harmonious. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750 ml format.
