• Sold out Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye Whiskey

Description

Two barrels shape this Maryland rye. Four to five years in new American oak with a high char lay down the base, then an additional 18 months in toasted wave stave barrels completes the picture. Those staves, cut for extra surface contact and treated with a low char and a medium-plus toast, push the whiskey toward caramel, toffee, hazelnut and toasted coconut.

Bottled at 48.3% ABV in a 750 ml bottle, Double Oak is brought to proof with limestone-filtered water drawn from the 1909 spring house on the distillery grounds. The result is warm and layered, with oak, spice and dried fruit running through a smooth, lingering finish, and shows how a traditional rye recipe responds to a second, more deliberate turn in wood.
