Three years is the minimum rest for Patrón Extra Añejo, which spends that time in a mix of new and used American, French and Hungarian oak barrels. The tequila starts as 100% Weber Blue Agave grown in Mexico and is distilled in small batches, a method that concentrates the depth found in the glass. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 375 ml format.
Extended barrel time shows up as stewed tropical fruits, sweet potato and raisins, with honey, vanilla and roasted almonds filling in behind them. A light, clear note of agave runs underneath the oak rather than disappearing into it. As with all Patrón tequilas, nothing is added — the range is additive-free, reflecting the distillery's approach to craft, authenticity and integrity.
