This seasonal bottling traces back to a San Francisco Christmas ale first brewed in 2015. That brew was double-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, then left to rest for more than nine years in once-used Old Potrero Straight Rye Whiskey barrels, bottled at 50% ABV in a 700 ml format.
Time in those rye casks built a layered profile: spiced fruit cake and candied orange lead into evergreen, with sweet malt, bright grapefruit peel, a medley of baking spices, fresh ginger and a light touch of oak behind them.
