Oban Distillery's contribution to the 2024 Special Releases collection takes its cue from an orchard by the sea. This 10 year old single malt is bottled at 116 proof, or 58% ABV, and carries a green, leafy aromatic character alongside sweet-spiced apple and sea-salted vanilla. On the nose there's spiced nutmeg, sweet cinnamon and a touch of clove, with a palate that comes across vigorous and lively.
Maturation finishes in charred American oak barrels that were first seasoned with Oloroso sherry, a step that brings baked apple depth and faint wisps of salted vanilla to the spirit. Poured neat or over ice, it shows the coastal side of the distillery's house style. One 750 ml bottle.
