Made from 100% malted barley and run through a continuous Coffey still, this Japanese whisky takes an unusual route for a malt spirit. The Coffey still is harder to work with than a modern column still, but it leaves more of the barley's weight and texture in the distillate, giving the whisky a fuller body and layered character. Bottled at 45% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.
The nose opens with rich spice and candied citrus, while the palate turns dense and robust, carrying cinnamon, clove, and lemon. A long finish brings polished oak, a hint of tobacco, and mild chocolate. It holds up neat and works just as well as the backbone of a serious cocktail.
