Description
Maddalena Riesling Monterey 2019 is made by halting the alcoholic fermentation before the yeast has converted all of the natural grape sugar into alcohol. That arrested fermentation keeps the wine's natural sweetness intact, and no grape juice concentrate is added, so the individual flavors and terroir of each parcel of land come through.
The nose shows apricot, honey and wildflowers. The mouth is rich, meeting the palate with fresh fruit flavors of pear and green apple. The 2019 vintage was awarded 87 points from Wine Enthusiast.
Quality begins in the vineyards. The Riboli Family established estate vineyards in Paso Robles to ensure the ultimate level of grape quality; the Paso Robles appellation of San Luis Obispo County, California offers a dry climate with warm days and cool nights, and fully mature grapes concentrate ripe flavors and aromas. Sustainability is a top priority:
- 100% certified sustainable, with the Paso Robles and Monterey vineyards certified by CSWA and the wines sustainable from ground to glass
- Reclaimed rainwater and wastewater used in vineyard irrigation
- Cover crops planted to reduce erosion and nurture soil health and fertility
- Vineyards farmed free of artificial pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers as part of a naturally balanced ecosystem
