Description
Made in the Valles Centrales de Oaxaca, this mezcal comes from a collective of mezcaleros working in small batches with the same techniques their families have used for generations. The agave is grown nearby and cut by hand, then the hearts are roasted slowly underground over several days, which is where the smoky sweetness in the glass comes from.
Ensamble No. 1 is the first ensamble in the Los Vecinos range, blending 90% Espadin with 5% Barril and 5% Madrecuishe. Bottled at 45% ABV in a 750 ml bottle, it tastes sweeter than the aroma suggests, leading with black pepper, honey and soy sauce in a delicate, well-mannered style.
