About La Grande Dame Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot is a French Champagne House founded in Reims in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot. In 1805, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin took over the family business after being widowed at 27 and became known as La Grande Dame de la Champagne, credited with the first vintage champagne (1810), the riddling table (1816), and the first rosé champagne made by assemblage (1818). The house continues to work by Madame Clicquot's motto: one quality, the finest.
