The Insignia program began in 1974, when Joe Phelps set out to make a single blend each year representing the finest wine possible from that vintage, without committing in advance to Cabernet Sauvignon or any other single grape.
The 2019 vintage follows that same approach: one wine chosen to represent the best of Joseph Phelps Vineyards for the year. Insignia is widely regarded as a qualitative benchmark for Californian winemaking.
