Description

Two and a half centuries of tequila production and eleven generations of the Cuervo family stand behind this limited edition release. Jose Cuervo 250 Aniversario is an extra añejo made entirely from blue agave, drawn from the most select tequilas held in the family reserve and matured through a double-cask process at 40% ABV.

Maturation begins in new French and American oak, then the liquid moves into Spanish sherry casks — a nod to the Spaniards who introduced new world distillation to the old-world vino de mezcal method that became modern tequila. The 750 ml bottle carries a sequentially etched number on the glass as certification of authenticity, and arrives in an oak gift box. Deep amber with bright copper and golden hues, the nose moves through lightly toasted oak, vanilla, almond, walnut, chocolate, caramel and honey, with agave, prune, red fruit, raisin, very ripe fig, banana and apple alongside clove and an intense cinnamon note. The palate is sweet with subtle agave and hints of oak and vanilla, closing soft and velvety, the gentle alcohol warmth framing countless notes in balance.
