Description

To honor the 25th Anniversary, the Marian McLain expression has been developed, a tribute to the earlier life of Jefferson's 8th generation grandmother, who is one of the first documented female whiskey makers in American history.

In 1799, Marian McLain was apprehended due to distilling and marketing whiskey without paying taxes. She was not doing so to defy the law but rather as a single mother in a precarious situation - needing to provide for her children. She is my great-great-great-great-grandmother and the driving force behind Jefferson's Bourbon. On the 25th anniversary of the brand, my father and I are proud to carry on her legacy with an especially strong, balanced compilation. Though there is much still to learn about her life, we do know that her charge is the earliest on record of a woman trading whiskey in the U.S. Her strength and courage motivated my father and I to establish Jefferson's Bourbon. - Trey Zoeller, Founder
