Gnarly Head started in 2004 with a single idea: make a Zinfandel with real substance. That search led the winemakers to the old vineyards of Lodi, California, where twisted, weathered vines yield bold, powerful, concentrated fruit. This Old Vine Zinfandel opens with blackberry bramble and black raspberry on the nose.
The palate is fruit forward, with dark plum and jammy blackberry framed by balanced acidity and supple tannins at 14.5% ABV. It pairs well with barbecue ribs and meaty burgers. The same big, authentic style now runs through the full Gnarly Head range, which has collected more than 100 Gold Medals. Bottled at 750 ml.
