Eighteen years in the making, this Highland single malt starts with mineral-rich water drawn from the Tarlogie Springs and spirit distilled through unusually tall stills, yielding a light, silky character with plenty of space for flavour to develop. The majority of the whisky spends its maturation in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.
About 30% of the batch is moved into Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for a three-year stretch. Once both components reach 18 years, they are married together: the Oloroso wood contributes vibrancy and raisin-like sweetness, while the American oak keeps it in balance. Expect rich caramel and vanilla on the nose, with oak, toasted nuts and a smooth, lingering sweetness.
