Glenmorangie The Nectar began with Dr Bill Lumsden's recollection of stepping into a French pastry shop, an idea he first expressed in The Nectar D'Or. This 16 year old Highland single malt carries that dessert-like character further, spending longer in an expanded pairing of bourbon and sweet white wine casks for a richer, more layered whisky. Bottled at 46% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.
The build starts with Glenmorangie matured 14 years in bourbon casks, chosen for its creamy texture and depth, then finished a further two years across a new mix of sweet white wine casks. French Sauternes and Monbazillac casks lend pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apple; Moscatel casks from Spain add syrupy sweetness; Hungarian Tokaji casks contribute white chocolate, almond and honeycomb. The glass shows rich caramel and vanilla aromas over oak and toasted nuts, closing with a smooth, lingering sweetness.
