Three decades in the making, Glenfiddich Grand Château 31 Year Old spends its early life in American and European oak before moving into Bordeaux red wine casks for a further nine years. That extended second maturation draws the spirit toward the character of fine wine while keeping the structure of aged single malt, giving a 750 ml bottling at 47.6% ABV.
The pour is rich and layered, opening with vanilla and ripe cassis before caramelized cherries and apples arrive alongside warming spice and toasted oak. The finish runs long and complex, carrying the wine-cask influence through to the end. Released in limited quantities, it reflects Glenfiddich's approach to cask experimentation at its most ambitious.
