Description

Two of the most respected traditional tequilas, poured side by side. Both crush their agave with a volcanic-stone tahona, but they come from different places: Fortaleza from the town of Tequila, Cascahuin from El Arenal in the Valles. Same method, different terroir, and you can taste it.

Fortaleza Blanco — 700 ml, 40% ABV (80 proof). Tahona-crushed agave from the town of Tequila, bottled straight from the still. Citrus and cooked agave with butter, olive, earth and black pepper, then a long finish.

Cascahuin Tahona Blanco — 750 ml, 42% ABV (84 proof). Juice pressed with a traditional stone tahona mill. Sweet and herbal on the nose with earthy Valles-zone depth, then cooked agave, tropical fruit and a long, textured finish.

How to taste them: pour both neat, slightly below room temperature, in matching glasses. Start with the Fortaleza, then the Cascahuin, and go back and forth. Look for Fortaleza's buttery, olive-like richness against Cascahuin's earthier, more mineral side.
