Most blanco tequila is proofed down with water before bottling. This one isn't: Fortaleza Still Strength arrives at 46% ABV, holding on to the oils and body it carried coming off the copper pot still. The result is the familiar Fortaleza Blanco profile with more weight behind it.

Cooked agave leads, thick and sweet, followed by hay, cinnamon and pitted fruit. The finish runs long and oily, with pepper lingering well after the sip. A 700 ml bottle of Fortaleza at its fullest expression.

    Fortaleza is a family-run tequila house in Tequila, Jalisco, whose roots reach back to the 1873 distillery of Don Cenobio Sauza and whose modern label launched in 2005. Now in its fifth generation, the distillery still works by hand — brick ovens, a tahona stone for crushing, and copper pot stills.
