Description
The 2021 DAOU Reserve Seventeen Forty from Paso Robles is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, inspired by the wines of Saint-Émilion. The nose is rich and refined, with ripe boysenberry, fragrant plum, sweet cherry, cocoa and pomegranate, underpinned by subtle crème de cassis, black olive, pencil lead and sandalwood.
The palate leads with blackberry, cherry, dark chocolate and espresso, accented by truffle, tobacco leaf and dried flowers. Supple tannins and subtle oak give the wine its structure, carrying a long, vibrant finish of black plum, currant, loganberry and mocha.
Balanced and smooth from ripe fruit through to a refined close, it is eminently approachable now and will reward careful cellaring for years to come. Bottled at 750 ml, 14.7% ABV.
