Description

Craigellachie 23 Year is a Speyside malt that steps away from the region's usual fruity, floral profile. Its rich, robust character comes from oil fired malt, and the whisky spends 23 years in oak before bottling at 46% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.

Maturation takes place in a mixture of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The bourbon casks push vanilla, toffee and fudge to the front, while the sherry casks add richness and complexity.

Tasting notes: malty sweetness and fresh tropical fruit open, with citrus and toasted oak alongside. Vanilla and spicy cinnamon follow, lifted by a zing of menthol freshness and a note of pineapple over a campfire. The finish is long and lingering, sweet and spicy.

    About Craigellachie

Craigellachie sits at the heart of Speyside but makes a whisky unlike the typical Speyside style. Considered old fashioned even in 1891, its muscular robustness comes from oil fired malt and worm tub condensers. That full yet aromatic character has made Craigellachie a prized malt for blending since the late 19th century.
