Bushmills Private Reserve Bordeaux Cask 10 Year is a small batch Irish single malt bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 750 ml bottle. It is made with 100% malted barley, triple-distilled, and released non-chill filtered as part of the Private Reserve line of hand-selected cask finishes drawn from the distillery's reserves of rare aged single malt.
Maturation runs six years in carefully selected bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry casks, followed by a minimum of four years in first fill Pomerol Bordeaux casks. The bourbon wood contributes vanilla and oak, the sherry casks bring dried fruit and spice, and the Bordeaux casks layer in subtle currant character.
Deep copper in the glass. The aroma carries roast wood intermingled with red currants and raspberries. The palate is mellow and well-rounded, opening with crisp green apple, lemon and vanilla before a hint of nutmeg and ginger. The finish is long and dry, with lemon peel and a glowing spiciness.
