The aroma opens with rich caramel and vanilla, backed by dark chocolate, butter and earthy walnut and hazelnut. On the palate, warm vanilla and oak carry through to toasted nuts, a generous spice and traces of butterscotch and honey.
The strength is powerful but never unapproachable, and the sweetness lingers well past the long, deep finish. It is a bourbon aimed at drinkers who already know their way around barrel-proof whiskey, and it is best taken neat or opened up with a splash of water.
