In 1984, Elmer T. Lee drew a single barrel from Warehouse H and put the first commercially marketed single barrel bourbon on the shelf. This 40th Anniversary edition marks four decades of that release with a limited run topped by the signature white horse stopper, each bottle hand-selected from one barrel and aged to the same standards as the original. Bottled at 62% ABV in a 700 ml format.
The color is deep amber with gold at the rim. Caramel and toasted oak lead on the nose, opening into dark chocolate, dried fruit and warm baking spices. The palate arrives in layers: vanilla first, cinnamon and nutmeg through the middle, a flash of cherry toward the end. The finish runs long and warm, with a trace of smoke and caramel that doesn't quit. This is allocated bourbon.
