Built from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, this single barrel straight rye spent seven years in a new 53-gallon American oak barrel before moving into a WL Weller barrel for a final nine months. Bottled at cask strength, 59.5% ABV, in a 750 ml bottle. The limited-edition label carries an oil painting by artist Danial James, picturing a scene from the early 1900s that could have taken place in the well-known Saloon #10 in Deadwood, South Dakota.
In the glass it shows an elegant gold shine, with dark chocolate and mandarin orange leading the aroma. The palate moves through cinnamon, nutmeg, dark chocolate, clove and black pepper, and the finish runs long on vanilla and ginger snap cookie.
