In 1843 the 14-year-old son of a Spanish soldier inherited just under 17,000 ha of land on the slopes between the Russian River and Dry Creek in the north of Sonoma County. He moved there with his entire family, managed the land and raised cattle. He called the land Tzabaco Rancho, and the name lives on today in the Rancho Zabaco wines. Warm days and cool nights provide perfect climatic conditions for the grapes and allow them to develop their full potential. The result is an excellent Zinfandel from Sonoma County with a balance and intensity that is instantly appealing.
